How to make money with art during the lockdown

 

 

What can I do at this time to still make money with my art?

 

So, this is a time that has been seen before, not on such a global scale but pandemics are nothing new. This time this pandemic, I believe will cause a major shift in how we do things in our normal day to day lives.

That being said, I truly believe that the art business can still thrive for many who are willing to put in the work.

In the attached video, I want to share with you 4 methods that I personally use to make sure that money is still coming in and our business is still running during these crazy times.

The art business is like no other in that we can still work and for many of us it is just like any other day.

Teaching

If you can speak while you create your art then you can teach. What students are looking for is a person who can tell them step by step how to create what they are creating.

Be kind, empathetic and understanding, remember not everyone knows what you know.

Live streams

Many people have phones, those phones have cameras, the camera has access to Facebook or Instagram and they have access to live stream.

Setting up your camera and painting in front of people can be nerve-racking but, it can also be an amazing way to grow, sell your art, and engage with your audience.

Entertainment

Not everyone can or wants to paint online, I understand that. Maybe you have different talents that your audience has never seen before. Like: Music, speaking, teaching, reading, acting and the list goes on and on. This is an opportunity if used wisely to engage your audience in a whole new way.

Documentaries

This past spring, Katie and I have been revisiting one of our old documentaries called the Artist Heart. The video will tell you more about the show but, why not use this time to tell your audience more about the place that you live, what you do when you’re not painting and how you like to spend your time. This will make you more relatable and can increase sales dramatically.

 

Learn marketing.

If all of that still doesn’t sound like a fit for you then I recommend you learn how to market. The world will open up for business again, times will change and I advise you to use this time to learn something new, something that will benefit your art business in the future.
